NEW DIVISIONAL MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR MEL CHEMICALS

Brian Purves announces:

Alan Foster retires at the end of December 2003. Edward Haughey, currently Managing Director MEL Chemicals - Europe will succeed Alan and will take up the post of Divisional Managing Director of the Zirconium Division with effect from 1st October 2003. In his new role he will join the Executive Board of the Luxfer Group.

Edward joined Luxfer on the 1st February 2003 from Croda International plc where he held the post of Divisional Managing Director of Croda Colloids Limited. He is a graduate in Chemistry and has held a series of senior general and production management positions in the Croda Group, BASF and Rhone Poulenc.

Alan will continue to work with Edward to develop the divisional strategy until he retires. 

I would like to thank Alan for his considerable contribution to the Group over many years. Alan has been Managing Director of MEL Chemicals for 15 years and under his guidance the zirconium business developed from an off-shoot of Magnesium Elektron to become a world leader in zirconium chemicals.
