Magnesium Elektron Powders exhibited at PowderMet2012, the International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, organised by the Metal Powder Industries Federation and held in Nashville, Tennessee, on 10 to 13 June 2012. Magnesium Elektron Powders is part of the Magnesium Elektron division of Luxfer Group.

Participating from Magnesium Elektron Powders were Brad Ford, VP Sales & Marketing; Matt Shuffran, Military Sales Manager; Dr. Rajiv Tandon, Research & Development Manager; and Dr. Deepak Madan, VP Technology & New Product Development. Dr. Martyn Alderman, Divisional Technical Director of Magnesium Elektron, also attended.

As part of the conference programme Magnesium Elektron Powders organised a special interest session on “Magnesium Powders & Composites”. Dr. Madan gave an overview presentation on state-of-the-art magnesium powder technology and Dr. Tandon made a presentation on the characteristics and consolidation behaviour of ground magnesium alloy powders.

At the conference, Magnesium Elektron Powders highlighted its recent efforts in developing new ground and atomised magnesium alloy powders targeted at a range of potential applications, including: lightweight structural & consumable powder metallurgy parts; energetic & pyrotechnic applications; cold spray repair of magnesium castings; and additive manufacturing.
