MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON PASSES THIRD SUCCESSIVE ISO14001 AUDIT

MANCHESTER UK (11 August 2009): Magnesium Elektron UK announced today their third successive conclusion to an ISO 14001 audit.

Magnesium Elektron UK became accredited to the BS EN ISO 14001:2004 standard in Environmental Management in September 2008, and for the three audits since then, the company has passed with full compliance. No major or minor non-conformities have been found from any of the audits across the entire site. Magnesium Elektron UK has fully embraced the philosophy of business growth whilst reducing environmental impact.

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out how companies can go about putting in place an effective Environmental Management System. Environmental impact is becoming an increasingly important issue across the globe, with pressure to minimise any impact coming from a number of sources including Local and National Governments, Regulators, Trade Associations, Customers, Employees and Shareholders.

Using the ISO 14001 standard as a baseline, Magnesium Elektron UK aims to continue to reduce the impact on the environment from its processes. The assessment and elimination of its significant waste streams remains a top priority for 2009 and beyond. This action is being supported by the creation of a multi-disciplined business transformation team.
