MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON ACHIEVE ISO14001
1 September 2008
MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON GAIN ISO14001
MANCHESTER, (September 2008) Following a two day audit, by the British Standards Institute, Magnesium Elektron at Swinton, became accredited to the BS EN ISO 14001:2004 standard in Environmental Management. ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that defines an effective Environmental Management System, designed to balance the need to grow the business whilst minimising the impact of operations on the environment.
The process at Magnesium Elektron took almost two years from the planning stage through to involvement, implementation and final audit and is a great example of what can be achieved if all members of the organisation work together towards a common goal.
Using the ISO 14001 standard as a baseline, Magnesium Elektron aims to continue to reduce the impact on the environment from its processes. The assessment and elimination of its significant waste streams remains a top priority for 2009 and beyond, and will be supported by the creation of a multi-disciplined business transformation team set up as part of the Dale Carnegie training initiative to focus purely on this issue.
