Luxfer provides lightweight compressed natural gas systems for buses used at Expo 2015

18 June 2015

MILAN—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Luxfer Gas Cylinders provided lightweight compressed natural gas (CNG) systems for seven Iveco Urbanway buses that are now transporting visitors at Expo 2015, a global event that began here on May 1 and will run through October 31.

Located just northwest of the center of Milan, the Expo site covers 272 acres (110 hectares). The event is expected to attract about 20 million visitors from around the world.

Using environmentally friendly CNG-powered buses is in keeping with the Expo’s ecological theme: “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.” Each bus is equipped with four Luxfer carbon composite cylinders containing 1,280 liters of fuel. Ofira Italiana Srl, Luxfer’s alternative fuel product distributor and partner in Italy, collaborated on the project.

According to Le Bureau International des Exposition (BIE), the international organization that regulates such global events, the goals of an Expo are “educating the public, sharing innovation, promoting progress and fostering cooperation.” Expos are held every five years in different cites.
