LUXFER COMPLETES THE SALE OF BA TUBES
Manchester: 24th January 2008: Luxfer Group confirmed today that it has now sold the assets & business of BA Tubes to Aluminiumwerk Unna of Germany (ALUnna). The acquired business will trade as Alunna Tubes Limited.
Luxfer Group has retained the land & buildings on the Redditch site, although a conditional sale of the property to ALUnna has been agreed, subject to certain environmental work to be undertaken over the next several years.
The sale completes the disposal of the old British Aluminium' subsidiary. The bulk of this business was sold to Alcoa in 2000, with the sale of the Workington speciality extrusion plant to Pechiney following in 2001.
Brian Purves, CEO of Luxfer Group, said BA Tubes has been a non-core activity of ours for some years now. The sale to ALUnna offers the employees at Redditch the prospect of greater security within Europe's largest manufacturer of aluminium tubes, while we at Luxfer can concentrate on developing our core activities in the Gas Cylinder and Elektron divisions.
